It took several months to reach this moment. You may have been looking around for replacement windows for your Toronto area home for some time. Maybe the idea struck you in the spring, just after another long, hard winter. You saw your heating bills and remembered feeling all of those drafts every time you walk near one of your windows.

You sat down and talked it over with your spouse and you both agreed that this would be the time to make a significant home improvement. Replacing the windows and doors in your house can actually save you up to 40 percent on your home heating bills. It can also help increase the value of your home.

You began looking at different companies, taking in all of the different styles and manufacturers of windows, and decided on the ones you felt most comfortable with. Now what?

If you just ordered these windows, you likely received an installation date. When you rely on a quality window and door company, they will have their own on-staff installers, so you should have that installation date on hand. They may have also provided you some information about things you can do to make the installation process go more smoothly.

Clear away any furniture that is close to the windows being replaced.

If you’re replacing all of the windows in your home, it may seem impractical to move everything, but it’s a good idea to make sure there is an easy walking path between the entry door and each window in your home. You’ll also want to make sure any China cabinets, bookcases, beds, and other large furniture items are moved away the from the window prior to the installer arriving.

You don’t need to move them out of each room; as long as there is about a meter of space around the window and in front of it, that should be more than enough for your installer.

If you have any specific questions about installation, contact the company directly.
